I just heard some exciting news from our R&D team and I wanted to share it with all of you.
John Cuomo, USANA’s Executive Director of Research & Development, told me about a USANA-supported clinical study that is making some noise in the field of obesity research.
This month the journal Obesity and Weight Management published the results of an independent, third-party clinical study conducted by the highly respected Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Colorado Denver. In the video below, Dr. Cuomo explains the objectives of the study as well as its remarkable results. Here is a link to the PDF version of the study.
In a nutshell, the 12-week Internet-based study confirms that lifestyle change can significantly improve outcomes in people with metabolic syndrome. As Dr. Cuomo tells me, the key thing in developing metabolic syndrome (a pre-diabetic state) is that you’re overweight, but other factors figure into it as well.
In the study, participants followed a program that included USANA's nutritional supplements, moderate exercise, and a low-glycemic diet featuring Nutrimeal and Nutrition Bars.
It’s fantastic that this independent study by a respected obesity research lab supports what USANA believes is the best way to maintain your health. This is great news to share!
